The Vancouver Cocktail signalled the birth of a scene – one now flourishing!  In 1952, alcohol sales were finally permitted in Vancouver restaurants.  In 1954, The Sylvia Hotel opened: Vancouver’s first legally licensed cocktail bar.  It became the site of much decadence and one that served up the Vancouver Cocktail.  Ever popular, it came to embody mid-century cocktail culture. In 1959, Errol Flynn enjoyed the Vancouver Cocktail at the Sylvia… the last before his death.  Try this Canadian classic, here with Victoria Gin.
