Ingredients1

Let the pantry be your playground! As you embark on your cocktail adventures, get wild in your fridge.  Try some of these ingredients to add balance and complexity to your creations.

Sweet:

  • Simple syrup, which can be infused with all sorts of excitement, like tea or herbs
  • Cordials, like elderflower and pomegranate for example
  • Maple syrup
  • Jams and jellies
  • Honey

Bitter:

  • Lemon (citrus should always be fresh)
  • Lime
  • Grapefruit
  • Aromatic bitters
  • Balsamic vinegar

Produce:

Herbs, fruits and veg are great not only for garnish, but many are also great to muddle in a shaker before you mix

  • Herbs: rosemary, cilantro, basil, thyme, lavender…
  • Cucumbers
  • Fresh grated ginger root
  • Berries
  • Tomatoes (No really! Vancouver’s David Wolowidnyk once made us a beautiful cocktail with tomato water… not the juice, but the delicate water inside.)

Mixers:

  • Tonic water (premium makes a difference here. Try Fentimans, Fever-Tree, Boylan, Q-tonic…)
  • Soda or carbonated water
  • Fresh exotic fruit juices, like pear and pomegranate
  • Teas: herbal, green, chai, earl grey…
  • Floral, lemon and orange flavoured sodas
  • Bubbly

And there are scores of spirits that we love with our Gins.  Here is a handful of our favourites:

  • Pear, lemon, and orange liqueurs
  • Amaros
  • Vermouths – sweet and dry
  • Lillet Blanc
  • St. Germain
  • Chartreuse
  • Sherry
  • Maraschino liqueur
  • Campari
